POSITION:      Licensed Counselor: Solution Focused Brief Therapy (Canandaigua or Naples, NY)
JOB TYPE:     Contract Basis - Independent Counseling Contractor or Private Practice
LOCATION:    Primary location Canandaigua, NY or Naples, NY.

Ability to visit counseling sites in Canandaigua, Naples, and Geneva is helpful.

HOURS:         Per-diem, Monday through Thursday, with afternoon/evening availability. Counselors set their own schedule but must provide at least three counseling sessions per week, with flexibility to schedule more as needed.

RATE:            $50 per hour contract

 ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

The Partnership for Ontario County is a local nonprofit that has been a center of support in the Finger Lakes since 1998. The Partnership offers programs and services to strengthen the community and address the needs of individuals and families. Programs include the Community Support Center, Epic Zone Youth Clubhouses in Geneva and Bloomfield, Ontario County Youth Court, County Community Liaison Team, Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition, Suicide Prevention Coalition, Veterans Coalition, Leadership Ontario, and leads a monthly popup food pantry. Our team is composed of dedicated individuals working together to make a meaningful impact in our community.

 

OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE OF JOB:

We contract with licensed counselors who are passionate about working with individuals and families, providing a safe and supportive environment for clients to express their feelings, experiences, and needs using the Solution Focused Brief Therapy approach. The Community Support Center pays for free short-term counseling sessions to children, teens, adults, and families across Ontario County. Counseling services are delivered at community based sites located in Canandaigua, Geneva, and Naples, with current openings focused on Canandaigua and Naples locations. Private practice locations operated by the counseling contractor may be considered.

 

ACTIVITIES AND FUNCTIONS:

Counseling

  • Work with individuals to improve mental health outcomes using Solution Focused Brief Therapy approach.

  • Provide goal-oriented therapy focused on developing coping skills.

  • Create a safe and engaging environment for clients to communicate their feelings, experiences, and needs.

  • Assist individuals and families in obtaining the skills and resources they need to thrive.

  • Foster a passion for wellness and a holistic approach to both physical and mental health.

Counseling Management

  • Must participate in monthly supervision meetings with the contracted clinical supervisor or clinician.

  • Collaborate closely with the Program Assistant for the Prevention Coalition and Counseling Services to facilitate client referrals to additional community support services through CSC case management (e.g., long-term therapy, substance abuse counseling, LGBTQ+ support, etc.).

  • Ensure the consistent use of the client evaluation tool, MyOutcomes (ORS & SRS ratings scales), scheduling calendar and online patient data forms.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Familiarity with Solution Focused Brief Therapy techniques, client intake and assessment, human dynamics, and motivational interviewing.

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to interact with clients, counselors, and community partners.

  • Ability to network and collaborate with Partnership staff, consultants, community, business, faith-based, public safety, education, government, and healthcare leaders.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Familiarity with community-based nonprofit organizations and public relations techniques.

  • Proficiency in managing and tracking client information in electronic formats.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work or equivalent.

  • Licensed to provide counseling in New York State.

  • Valid NYS Driver’s License or equivalent reliable transportation.

  • Ability to manage and track client information in electronic forms.

  • Successful completion of a criminal background check.
