 Commitment to Professional Development with Experiential Internships

As part of our commitment to fostering the growth of our interns, we provide thoughtful professional development opportunities included with the internship experience. Interns will receive 1-2 hours of targeted training weekly throughout their internship. This training complements their on-the-job experience and is designed to enhance both their knowledge and practical skills in their field of interest.  In addition to their specialized area of internship broad topics covered include:

  • Overview of Community-Based Organizations: Gain insights into the operations, challenges, and successes of organizations working directly within the community.

  • Business Structures: Learn the distinctions  between nonprofit and for-profit organizations, including strategic, financial, and operational differences.

  • Public Policy Processes: Explore how various aspects of public policy influence community development and the practical implications for both local and broader environments.

  • Community-Based Programs: Delve into the Partnership's diverse areas of program impact, addressing social determinants of health, coalition building, responsive food distribution systems, youth recidivism and prevention, counseling and wellness programs, and more.

  • Management Administration and Board Responsibilities: Understand the essentials of board and administrative leadership responsibilities, financial and business systems, grants and fundraising, risk and compliance considerations,

These training sessions and the experiential learning opportunities are structured to ensure that interns not only contribute to our organization but also leave with a richer understanding of their professional landscape.

 Internship Tracks

  1. Marketing, Communications and Operations Assistant Gain hands-on experience in marketing, business administration, and clerical support, enhancing skills in communication, organization, and digital marketing.

  2. Youth Court Program Assistant Develop skills in legal processes, mentorship, and program management by assisting with our Youth Court summer programming. Ideal for students interested in criminal justice, social work, or psychology.

  3. Mental Health, Veterans, and Coalitions Outreach Assistant Support critical community health initiatives including suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention, and Veterans support through outreach, event coordination, and administrative duties.

Marketing Communication and Operations Assistant (Intern)

Position Type:    Internship

Location: Canandaigua, NY
Hours: Part-time, 8-20 hours per week based on availability

 Description:
Join our dynamic team as a Marketing Communication and Operations Assistant. This internship is perfect for students majoring in Marketing, Business Administration, Communication, Advertising, Public Relations, or Design. Other study areas may be considered including those in vocational or civil service training programs. The intern will support our marketing efforts, maintain business records, and handle clerical tasks, contributing to the efficiency of our operations.

 Professional Development Opportunities:
Interns will gain:

  • Practical experience in the creation and execution of marketing campaigns.

  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and social media management.

  • Insight into the day-to-day operations of nonprofit marketing and business communication.

  • Skills in data management and analysis to monitor and enhance marketing effectiveness.

Responsibilities and learning which may be included:

  • Assist in the development of and distribution of marketing materials.

  • Design and creation of design guides and templates.

  • Help manage social media accounts and content calendars.

  • Website updates and design (Squarespace)

  • Drafting of press releases.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date business records.

  • Perform general office duties such as filing, copying, and data entry.

  • Participate in outreach activities and events.

  • Carry out other duties as necessary to support the team.

Qualifications:

  • Ideal for student currently enrollment in an undergraduate degree program related to a Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Advertising, Public Relations, or Design program. Other study areas may be considered including those in vocational or civil service training programs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and social media platforms. Familiarity with CANVA helpful.

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.

Restorative Youth Court Program Assistant (Intern)

 Position Type:    Internship

Location: Canandaigua, NY
Duration: Summer (with possibility of extension)
Hours: Part-time, 8-16 hours per week based on availability
Compensation: Unpaid; mileage expenses reimbursed for outreach events

 Description:
We are seeking a dedicated intern to assist with our Youth Court summer programming. This role is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice, Social Work, Youth Development, Education, Psychology, Political Science, Public Policy, Communication or other related fields. Other areas of study will be considered. The intern will support the implementation of program activities, facilitate activities which support training for peer-led justice processes, and contribute to the development of outreach materials.

This internship will include educational development experiences that enhance the work experience.

 Professional Development Opportunities:
Interns will benefit from:

  • In-depth understanding of the youth justice system and the role of restorative justice in the community

  • Training in communication skills applicable to both personal and professional situations.

  • Opportunities to develop leadership skills through the facilitation of youth court sessions.

  • Exposure to program management including planning, implementation, and evaluation.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordinating and facilitating Youth Court summer training sessions.

  • Help with the training of youth volunteers.

  • Engage in community outreach to increase program participation.

  • Support the collection and management of program data.

  • Perform administrative duties as needed.

  • Undertake other tasks as assigned to support the program.

Qualifications:

  • Ideal for student currently enrollment in an undergraduate degree program related to Criminal Justice, Social Work, Youth Development, Education, Psychology, Political Science, Public Policy, Communication or other related fields.  Mental Health, Veterans, and Coalition Outreach Assistant (intern)

Duration: Ongoing
Hours: Part-time, 8-16 hours per week based on availability
Compensation: Unpaid; mileage expenses reimbursed for outreach events

 Description:
We are looking for an intern to support our community coalitions related to mental health, focusing on suicide prevention, substance use prevention, and Veterans support. This role is suited for students in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health, Public Policy, Political Science, Communication, or related fields. The intern will participate in community outreach, support organizational meetings, and manage clerical tasks. This internship will include educational development experiences that enhance the work experience.

 Professional Development Opportunities:
Interns will experience:

  • Engage with and understand various mental health initiatives, including suicide prevention and substance abuse programs.

  • Skills development in community outreach and public speaking.

  • Training on how to effectively support and manage community wide coalition meetings that bring together government officials, community groups, and stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of administrative and organizational skills pertinent to running community health programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the coordination of, and participate in, outreach events.

  • Collect data, including surveys, at outreach events.

  • Support coalition meetings, including preparation and follow-up tasks.

  • Help with the creation and distribution of outreach materials.

  • Conduct administrative support tasks such as record keeping and data entry.

  • Engage with community members and stakeholders to promote mental health initiatives.

  • Perform additional duties as required to support program goals.

Qualifications:
